Hamilton Sundstrand buys Spanish pump maker

Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp., has agreed to acquire Spanish centrifugal pump manufacturer Marelli Pumps.
Hamilton Sundstrand maintains its global headquarters in Windsor Locks, Conn., and is focused on designing and manufacturing aerospace and industrial systems for military, commercial, regional and corporate aircraft.
Arvada, Colo.-based Sundyne Corp. — one of Hamilton Sundstrand’s three industrial companies, which also include Milton Roy Co. and Sullair Corp. — will absorb Marelli’s 150 employees.
Located in Illescas, Toledo, Spain, Marelli Pumps supplies centrifugal pumps for the oil and chemical industries to southern Europe, the Middle East and Spain.
In February 2007, Hamilton Sundstrand made a similar acquisition of Dosatron International, a France-based manufacturer of specialized dosing and metering pumps.
The Connecticut aerospace developer won a $1 billion contract to provide an electric power generation system for airplane manufacturer Airbus S.A.S’s new A350 XWB (extra -wide body).
With 2007 revenue of $5.6 billion, Hamilton Sundstrand employs approximately 18,000 people.
