By Mass High Tech Staff
Executives at data warehouse appliance maker Netezza Corp. report that the company has completed its expansion into central Europe and appointed Bernard Doering regional manager, covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The aggregation of the firm’s German-speaking operations began with its acquisition of North Carolina-based NuTech Solutions in May, which maintained operations in Germany and Poland. Combined with Netezza’s (NYSE: NZ) own operations in the region, the company now maintains 15 employees in offices in Munich and Dortmund, Germany. NuTech will continue to operate as an independent organization within Netezza.
The company’s first customers in the region include IHA-GfK AG and The Phone House.
Founded in 2000 and based in Marlborough, Netezza makes enterprise appliances for holding and analyzing data. The company boasts more than 170 customers, including Amazon.com, CNET Networks, Nationwide, Neiman Marcus, The Sherwin-Williams Co. and Virgin Media.
Aside from its German operations, the firm also maintains offices in Washington, D.C., Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.
Netezza completed an initial public offering in 2007 after raising more than $83 million in private funding. During fiscal 2008, the company posted a net income of $1.9 million on revenue of $126.6 million.
