By Mass High Tech Staff

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. reports it has bought Affinity BioReagents Inc., a provider of life sciences research materials.

Golden, Colo.-based Affinity BioReagents provides antibodies, peptides, proteins and other reagents for life science research. The company reported revenue of $6 million in 2007 and will be integrated into Thermo Fisher’s analytical technologies division.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Earlier this month, Thermo Fisher made a big push into the hot RNA-interference (RNAi) space with the purchase of Open Biosystems Inc. for an undisclosed amount. In June, Thermo Fisher also bought a pair of business units -- analytical technologies and environment instrumentation divisions -- from Indian analytical instruments firm Chemito Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

In April, the company won FDA approval for its “Spectra” test to screen patients for the deadly superbug MRSA.

Waltham-based Thermo Fisher reported a 2007 net income of $761.1 million on revenue of $9.7 billion.
