Navy gives BAE $32M for ECM systems

BAE Systems has landed almost $32 million for electronic countermeasure systems from the U.S. Navy, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
The company’s Electronics and Integrated Solutions unit in Nashua, N.H., will provide the Navy with integrated defensive electronic countermeasures, as well as support services. The system consists of an electronic frequency converter and a fiber-optic towed decoy.
Work on the contract will be performed in Nashua and Mountain View, Calif., and is expected to be completed by October 2011.
Last month, the defense company landed a $60 million order to provide thermal imaging modules to Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace AS under a U.S. Army contract. In April, BAE landed a $38 million contract from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to lead a team of scientists developing miniature robots intended to improve military battlefield intelligence.
BAE Systems is the U.S. subsidiary of United Kingdom-based BAE Systems PLC (LON: BA) and is headquartered in Rockville, Md. BAE Systems plc employs 97,500 people worldwide.
