Cape Cod Tech Council retools; CEO is out
By Mass High Tech Staff
The board of directors of the Cape Cod Technology Council has decided to scale back activities while it assesses its future, resulting in the loss of Teresa Martin as CEO of the organization.
In a letter to members, board chairman Peter Karlsen said the high cost of running a membership organization was a strong factor in the decision to take a look at the purpose, mission and organizational structure of the CCTC. Also under the microscope is how the organization draws in resources to fund its operations, Karlsen said.
The remaining operational paid staff members, Susan Bloom and Amy Whiteside, will continue to do their jobs, Karlsen said, but with reduced hours.
Karlsen touted the recent accomplishments of the council, including the implementation of the Unwired Village concept that brings free wi-fi to village centers on the Cape, and the Jr. Tech program for middle school children to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
The council will be holding meetings open to both members and nonmembers to discuss its future. The first meeting will be Friday, July 25 at 9 a.m., at a location to be determined depending upon the number of attendees.
