E-mail archiving firm Fortiva bought by Proofpoint

By Mass High Tech Staff

Fortiva Inc., an e-mail archiving provider with its U.S. headquarters in Stamford, Conn., has been acquired by Proofpoint Inc.

Fortiva, founded in 2004, had raised $17 million in financing. The Toronto, Canada-based company was founded by Pau Chen, former CEO and CTO of FloNetwork Inc.

All Fortiva products and services continue to be available for current Fortiva customers and channel partners, company officials said.

California-based Proofpoint said the acquisition strengthens its position as a vendor of solutions for e-mail security, data loss prevention and email archiving.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
