Citrix opens New England HQ in Bedford

Citrix Systems Inc. has expanded its local operations with a new facility in Bedford, which the company officially opened today.

The office serves as the company’s Boston headquarters and home of its virtualization and management division, which includes the Citrix XenServer virtualization product line. The office is headed by group vice president and general manager of the Xen Products Group, Lou Shipley, company officials said.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Citrix (Nasdaq: CTXS), has expanded its New England presence in recent years with the acquisition of Waltham-based Ardence Inc. in 2006 and Westford-based Reflectent Software Inc. in early 2007.

Citrix, founded in 1989, develops application-delivery infrastructure technology. The company claims more than 215,000 enterprise customers.

In 2007, Citrix posted a $214.4 million net income on $1.39 billion in revenue.
