Rocket Software buys Lockheed’s AeroText suite
By Mass High Tech Staff
Rocket Software continues a buying spree that began in 2007 with its most recent purchase of Lockheed Martin’s AeroText text-mining suite of software. The enterprise software firm will acquire current support and maintenance contracts and manage training, support, development and renewals under contract.
AeroText software extracts knowledge-based content analysis for law enforcement, counter-terrorism and business intelligence applications.
Austin-based Fluid Innovation, a software marketing firm, supported the acquisition, according to Rocket Software officials. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Privately held Rocket, which was founded in 1990, develops enterprise infrastructure products for original equipment manufacturers, network operators and software companies.
In January, the company announced its partial acquisition of Calif.-based storage product developer Arkivio Inc. During 2007, Rocket Software handled a buying spree that included acquisitions of NetManage Inc., a software distributor that makes legacy applications into web-based solutions, for $69 million; SmartDB Corp., a privately held software developer; CorVu Corp., a business intelligence software developer, for $19.8 million; and Seagull Holding NV, of the Netherlands, for $54.8 million.
