Millipore taps new bioscience unit president

By Mass High Tech Staff

Millipore Corp., a provider of products and services for biopharmaceutical research and manufacturing, has named a 15-year employee of the company to be the next president of its bioscience division, the firm reports.

Jon DiVincenzo has been tapped to replace Dominique Baly as head of the bioscience unit on Jan. 1, 2009, according to Millipore (NYSE: MIL), and Baly is expected to assist with the leadership transition for the rest of 2008.

Millipore CEO Martin Madaus in a statement credited Baly, a 36-year veteran of the company, for his role in expanding the firm’s lab water business and leading the creation of its bioscience division.

DiVincenzo, who is currently vice president of global sales and services, became a Millipore employee in 1994 and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University.

With 6,000 employees in 47 countries, Millipore reported 2007 net income of $136.5 million on revenue of $1.5 billion.
