Softscape sues SuccessFactors over proprietary information
By Mass High Tech Staff
People management software company Softscape Inc. has filed a civil lawsuit against San Mateo, Calif.-based competitor SuccessFactors Inc., citing “misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference with contractual relations and unfair competition.”
Filed in the Middlesex Superior Court, the complaint argues that SuccessFactors followed deceptive conduct, including proactive hiring of Softscape systems engineers for the sake of learning Softscape confidential information. The complaint further alleges that the obtained intellectual property from Softscape to improve its own product sales, specifically related to its SuccessFactors ULTRA product.
Wayland-based Softscape requests a trial by jury.
The Softscape suit follows a suit filed in March by SuccessFactors alleging that Softscape initiated a negative misinformation campaign by sending e-mails to a competitor’s customers.
