Raytheon reels in $7.2M defense sensor deal
By Mass High Tech Staff
Raytheon Co. has landed $7.2 million from the Missile Defense Agency, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Under the modification to a previously won contract, Raytheon Technical Services Co. LLC will repair and test the widebody airborne sensor platform — a DC-10 aircraft modified to hold optical sensor systems — to ensure its airworthiness.
Work on the contract will be performed at Raytheon Technical Services’ Burlington headquarters, and at subcontractor Aeroframe Services LLC’s facility in Louisiana. Work in the contract is expected to be completed by October, 2008.
In April, the Waltham defense giant landed a deal potentially worth $400 million from the Missile Defense Agency to support the design, development and activation of a European-based midcourse radar system.
Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) employs 72,000 people worldwide and reported a 2007 net income of $3.5 billion on revenue of $21.3 billion.
