LiveWire Mobile to carry Motörhead, Alice Cooper content
By Mass High Tech
LiveWire Mobile, a subsidiary of Framingham-based NMS Communications Corp. launched last December, has signed a new mobile distribution deal with Germany-based independent rock music aggregator SVP GmbH, officials report.
The multi-content licensing agreement will provide LiveWire access to a library of music from SVP’s four record labels, including artists such as Alice Cooper, Type O Negative, Whitesnake, Motörhead, Blackmore’s Night, Iced Earth, Symphony X and Skinny Puppy.
While financial terms of the deal were not released, the agreements allows for LiveWire’s distribution, through its carrier customers, of ringbacks, ring tones, video and full-track products.
Originally based on NMS’s ringback service, launched in 2004, LiveWire was spun out of the company in December, at the time boasting 30 operators worldwide as customers and more than 185 million subscribers, according to officials.
In March, NMS (Nasdaq: NMSS) paid $14.5 million for Bedford mobile music platform provider Groove Mobile Inc., expanding LiveWire’s offerings to include full track downloads.
