Capello steps down as PerkinElmer CFO
By Mass High Tech
PerkinElmer Inc., a global provider of health sciences and photonics products, has named Michael Battles to serve as interim CFO, the company reports.
Battles is set to replace current CFO Jeffrey Capello, whose resignation from the company is effective June 6, 2008, according to PerkinElmer. The firm said Capello resigned from his post to pursue opportunities outside of the company.
PerkinElmer (NYSE: PKI) hired Battles as controller of its analytical instruments business in 2001, and the accountant has risen through the ranks at the life sciences firm and now serves as vice president and controller. Before he joined the company, Battles spent 11 years with Big Four accounting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Robert Friel, CEO of PerkinElmer, said in a statement that Battles will oversee the company’s finances while it searches for a new CFO.
With 9,100 workers worldwide, PerkinElmer reported a 2007 profit of $131.7 million on revenue of $1.8 billion.
