NOAA shores up web traffic deal
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports it has extended its contract with Mirror Image Internet Inc.
NOAA uses Mirror Image's content delivery network, which handles anticipated online traffic spikes before and during major storms hitting the eastern United States.
NOAA has renewed the contract of Tewksbury-based Mirror Image for three years in a row. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In March 2007, Mirror Image opened an office in London.
NOAA, based in Washington D.C., is a department of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The organization assesses and forecasts the impact of short-term climate variability, with a focus on the risk of extreme weather events, for use in mitigating losses and maximizing economic gains.
Mirror Image, founded in 1997, is a division of business incubator Xcelera Inc., a British West Indies company.
