BTU brings in biggest order to date
BTU International Inc., a maker of thermal processing equipment, reports it has secured the company's largest single order to date for its Pyramax semiconductor packaging product.
While the purchasing company was not identified by North Billerica-based BTU International (Nasdaq: BTUI), officials said the machines would go to an existing customer, which is upgrading its facility. The deal is valued at $3 million.
The machines are expected to ship in 2008, starting in the second quarter, according to officials.
The company's Pyramax reflow ovens help semiconductor manufacturers package products in tightly controlled thermal environments.
Founded in 1950, BTU International reported $63.7 million in net sales in 2007, down from $78.3 million in 2006. The company reported a 30 percent decrease in its electronics assembly business in 2007, but a general increase in its alternative energy products, particularly its photovoltaic processing equipment, which saw a doubling of revenue in 2007.
