PITCHING THE TECHNOLOGY

Thermoelectric company eM-Tech is developing a prototype flexible, large thermoelectric generator system that would convert heat into electricity from car exhaust, the company said. The product could also be used with smokestacks and incinerators. According to eM-Tech, existing thermoelectric power tech operates at about 6 percent efficiency. The company said its goal is to make a thermoelectric generator based on nanofibers that operates at efficiencies from 40 percent to 50 percent.

PITCHING THE PEOPLE

Who is on the management team? Paul Czubarow, founder, was formerly with Tyco International Ltd's Raychem division, Cookson Electronics, Gillette Co., Saint-Gobain SA, and Diemat Inc.

Have executives been involved in a cashout prior to this venture? No.

Who is on the board of advisers? Ray Dietz of Diemat and Pansy Tong of Cermet Materials Inc.

PITCHING THE BUSINESS

How much money is being sought? EM-Tech is seeking between $500,000 and $700,000 to develop its prototype.

What partnerships, collaborations or affiliations are already in place? The company said it has a partnership with Boston heliostat-maker Practical Solar Inc.

List any federal or state grants, contracts or awards received: Officials at eM-Tech said the company was a presenter in a WPI Venture Forum event.

What's the market size being pursued? The potential target market is $1.5 billion, officials said.

Who are the likely competitors, direct or indirect? The company said its main competition comes from companies like Nextreme Inc. of Durham, N.C., and Marlow Industries Inc. of Dallas.

Is the company profitable? EM-Tech said it is profitable, with annual revenue of $100,000.
