Verizon supplants Comcast as IMAX sponsor at Jordan's
New England retail staple Jordan's Furniture reports signing a marketing agreement with Verizon Communications Inc. to promote the telecom titan's new fiber-based broadband FiOS TV service.
Verizon (NYSE: VZ), based in New York, has also replaced Comcast Corp. as the naming-rights sponsor of Jordan's two IMAX Theaters, in Reading and Natick, and the home furnishings company's Motion Odyssey Movie Theater in Avon, according to officials at Jordan's, based in Taunton.
As part of the new marketing agreement, Verizon will build a Verizon lifestyle store within the Jordan's Furniture complex in Reading that will feature Verizon's FiOS voice, Internet and TV services. Jordan's shoppers will be able to order FiOS products and services at the Jordan's location in Reading. Jordan's is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, the diverse Omaha, Neb. company led by investment guru and philanthropist Warren Buffett.
No financial details of the agreement were released.
