Tagsys' CEO Simon leaves; Stuek steps into corner office
Tagsys USA Inc. has named Bill Stuek as its CEO, effective immediately, to replace Elie Simon who officials say is leaving the radio frequency identification (RFID) systems maker to pursue other interests.
Stuek will serve as both chairman and CEO of Cambridge-based Tagsys, which makes RFID reader systems and tags. Originally founded in France in 2001, Tagsys moved its North American headquarters from Pennsylvania to Cambridge in May 2006.
Most recently, Stuek was the managing director of CCMP Capital and a partner with the Beacon Group. Prior to that, Stuek was chairman and CEO of Systems Software Associates in Baltimore, a global enterprise resource software and service company. Before joining SSA, Stuek had a 30-year tenure with IBM Corp., where he served in a number of senior executive sales roles, including general manager of North America operations.
In September 2007, Tagsys raised $16 million in private funding, the second tranche of a $35 million funding round announced in May 2007.
