The company's headquarters, which included a central reading location, formerly resided in Cambridge.

The new headquarters provides space needed for an expanding business. The infrastructure will be able to withstand the additional bandwidth, the power redundancy and the reliability necessary for WCC's WorldPro global web-based clinical trial image-management platform.

WCC was founded in 1992 as part of the Massachusetts General Hospital's Department of Radiology and has remained in close connection with the department even after becoming a separate company in 1995. The company is also part of the Cincinnati-based ProScan Imaging company group, which acquired the majority of WCC's ownership in 2006. The company provides imaging services for clinical trials in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices industries.

The two-story, stand-alone R&D facility is part of an eight-building, 500,000-square-foot business park. The landlord of the building is Boston Properties.

ZINK Imaging is the inventor and producer of printing technology that eliminates the need for ink cartridges or ribbons. The technology embeds paper with magenta, cyan and yellow dye crystals that are activated with heat, producing a color image. ZINK Imaging was represented by Jack Kerrigan of Grubb & Ellis Co. and will occupy the entire building. Affymetrix was represented by Dan Sullivan, Adam Subber and Joe Sciolla of Boston-based CresaPartners in the sublease.

Pharmarama

Pharmarama, a London-based company specializing in the procurement of pharmaceutical products for trials and patient programs, has opened a new U.S. office in Needham to aid overseas clinical and commercial development programs for North American life sciences companies.

The new office will focus on attracting U.S. pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to contract Pharmarama for sourcing comparator drugs for human studies in regions including Central and Eastern Europe and Asia. The goal is to offer help in supplying as-yet-unlicensed or experimental drugs for seriously ill patients living in countries where no suitable approved treatment exists, according to the company.

Pharmarama works with pharmaceutical companies to establish formally structured patient programs in the prelaunch phase of a medicine's life cycle.

Its comparator drug services are used to compare therapies under review to current therapies commercially available in the market.

Demiurge Studios

Demiurge Studios, an independent video game development company, has leased a 10,000-square-foot, eco-friendly building at 130 Prospect St. in Cambridge.

The building was a former gymnasium for St. Mary's Church in the 1930s and was converted into office space by Bruner/Cott and Associates Inc.

Demiurge Studios reports it has shipped more than 10 retail titles for personal computers and every major video game console. The company has also created downloadable casual games and has worked with companies such as Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Gearbox Software, THQ, BioWare and Harmonix Music Systems. Ryan Weber of GVA Williams represented Demiurge Studios. Tom Johnson of Hammond Real Estate represented the building's landlord, Bruner/Cott.

BAE Systems' new Enhanced Night Vision Digital Goggle will be designed and tested at the facility. The company is under contract with the U.S. Army to develop the helmet-mounted goggle, which converts infrared energy to video images. The technology, which enables soldiers to see through darkness, smoke and other deterrents, is at the core of BAE Systems' Lexington product line.

BAE Systems is a global defense and aerospace company, delivering a range of products and services for air, land and naval forces.
