UNH doled out $700K in research grants in '07
Thirteen New Hampshire companies received grants from the New Hampshire Innovation Research Center in 2007, and the center is accepting submissions for its next round of funding.
The center, based at the University of New Hampshire, said it gave out more than $700,000 in Granite State tech innovation grants last year. The center would not disclose the amounts of the individual grants, which are intended to support research partnerships between New Hampshire companies and college and university laboratories.
Submissions for the 2008 round are due Feb. 20. Last year's grant recipients were:

- Alaka'i Consulting & Engineering Inc., of Nashua, with Kevin Short, professor of mathematics, UNH
- AmberWave Systems Corp. of Salem, with Glen Miller, professor of chemistry, UNH
- Applied Geosolutions LLC of Durham, with Changsheng Li, professor of natural resources, UNH
- Biosignetics Corp. of Exeter, with Robert Geggel, department of cardiology, Children's Hospital Boston.
- Graphicast Inc., of Jaffrey, with Ronald Lasky, professor of engineering, Dartmouth College
- ImmuRx Inc., of Lebanon, with Randolph Noelle, professor of microbiology and immunology, Dartmouth College
- IVS 3D Inc., of Portsmouth, with Thomas Weber, research assistant professor, Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping, UNH
- Nanocomp Technologies Inc. of Concord, with Carmela Amato-Wierda, associate professor of material sciences, UNH
- Omega Smart Inc., of Manchester, with Joanne Curran Celantano, professor of nutrition sciences, UNH
- Presstek Inc., of Hudson, with Donald Sundberg, professor of materials science, UNH
