OnState brings on Skype to call-center offerings

A Newburyport maker of hosted voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) applications for call centers is now integrating Skype-enabled contact center products into its products.

OnState Communications Inc. said the addition of Skype services results is aimed at a new type of call center that be created in quickly and run on a pay-as-you-go model.

OnState, founded in 2004 by CEO Pat Kelly and GeoTel Communications Corp. founder Wayne Andrews, has already been working with Skype parent company eBay Inc. as part of the online auction company's customer communications portal for eBay-based businesses.

OnState is self-funded, and reported 43 employees as of the summer 2007.
