Baldwin Technology lands $4M Japanese order

Executives at Shelton, Conn.'s Baldwin Technology Company Inc., a maker of process automation technology for the printing industry, report the company's Japanese subsidiary, Baldwin Japan Ltd., has secured a new $4 million order with the Sankei Newspaper Co.

The order is expected to ship in 2008, from April through September, and includes automation equipment as well as associated blanket cleaning and spray dampening equipment, according to executives.

Sankei Newspaper Co., which publishes the Sankei Shimbun, a daily newspaper distributed in the Tokyo and Osaka areas, has a circulation of approximately 2 million copies per day, one of the largest national newspapers in Japan.

Baldwin, which went public on the American Stock Exchange in 1987, reported $201 million in revenue for its fiscal year 2007, which ended June 30, 2007, with net income of $6.6 million.
