Newtown's Garfield buys Newton's Embarc

A Pennsylvania interactive marketing firm reports acquiring Newton's Embarc Inc.

The Garfield Group Inc. has purchased all the assets of Embarc, an interactive marketing firm serving the biotech, pharmaceutical and health-care markets. Embarc is now known as Garfield Group Interactive and will continue its work from Newton, company officials said. Financial details of the deal were not released.

Embarc, which was founded in 1995, reports customers such as Cambridge's Biogen Idec Inc., Marlborough's Sepracor Inc. and Philips Lifeline.

The Garfield Group, which is based in Newtown, Penn., was founded in 1990 and includes a branding, design and advertising agency, and Garfield Group Public Relations.
