OwnerIQ looks smart with $2M first funding

Newton-based OwnerIQ Inc. reports receiving a Series A round of funding.

OwnerIQ received $2 million in funding from Waltham's Atlas Venture, Lexington's CommonAngels and the Massachusetts Technology Development Corp., company officials report.

Founded in 2006, OwnerIQ operates a network of websites designed to allow users to find operating manuals and other self-support information for consumer products. The company uses its websites to tailor marketing campaigns to specific individuals.

OwnerIQ was founded by former executives of Boston's Bitpipe Inc., a network of IT and business websites acquired by Needham's TechTarget for $40 million in 2004. The OwnerIQ network provides information from more than 2,200 manufacturers and logs more than 700,000 unique monthly visitors, according to the company.
