CLK Design buys California design tools firm
Littleton's CLK Design Automation Inc., a maker of timing and power tools for semiconductor design, reports it has acquired Synchronous Design Automation for an undisclosed amount.
Synchronous Design Automation of Palo Alto, Calif., makes clock tree synthesis and optimization tools for advanced digital chip designs. CLK Design Automation executives report plans to combine the two companies' product offerings into a suite of automated timing closure tools for 65-nanometer and 45-nanometer chip designs.
The combination gives the company a way to both test and repair integrated circuit designs -- something customers have been asking for -- according to Sandeep Srinivasan, founder and CEO of Synchronous Design Automation.
CLK is privately held, and raised $5 million in its first round of funding in 2005. The 17-person company closed a second round last spring, though executives did not disclose the amount.
