Desktone dealt $17M in first round

Chelmsford's Desktone Inc. reports closing a $17 million Series A round of funding.

Investors participating in the round include Highland Capital Partners of Lexington; SoftBank Capital, operating offices in Newton Center and New York; Citrix Systems Inc. of Florida and Tangee International of China.

Desktone, founded in 2006, develops a unified virtual desktop platform. Company officials said they plan to use the capital to fund global sales, marketing and development.

Desktone was founded by Eric Pulier, who also founded Los Angeles-based SOA Software Inc. and Cupertino, Calif.-based US Interactive.
