Army awards Goodrich operation $37M recon system deal

A Chelmsford-based unit of Goodrich Corp. has won a $37 million contract with the U.S. Air Force.

The contract is for the production of two reconnaissance pods, one mobile ground station and test and integration support for a project with the government of Greece, according to the U.S. Department of Defense. The pods consist of a series of sensors designed to detect levels of altitude on military aircraft.

The work, which was commissioned by the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is scheduled to be completed by May 2009.

Goodrich Corp. is headquartered in Burnsville, Minn. In 2006 Goodrich reported revenue of $5.8 billion.
