Settlement has Intel licensing AmberWave's patents

Salem N.H.'s AmberWave Systems Corp. reports it has settled all of its strained silicon patent infringement lawsuits with California's Intel Corp.

Under terms of the agreement, Intel has received a license to all of AmberWave patents and patent applications either existing today or filed during the agreement's 10-year term. The companies also have agreed to continuing discussions and evaluation of AmberWave's ongoing technology research and development efforts.

Intel will make license payments to AmberWave over the term of the agreement, though all additional terms, including financial, were not released.

AmberWave Systems, which was founded in 1999, originally filed the complaint against Intel in 2005.

AmberWave Systems researches, develops, patents and licenses advanced semiconductor materials technology, including strained silicon. Privately held AmberWave has raised more than $91 million in private funding over the course of five rounds. Investors include Adams Capital Management, TeleSoft Partners, Arch Venture Partners, 3i and The Hillman Co.
