Former Wyeth exec takes over R&D at Archemix

Cambridge biopharmaceutical company Archemix Corp. has named Robert Schaub as vice president of preclinical discovery and appointed Page Bouchard as head of research and preclinical development.
Prior to joining Archemix, Schaub spent 16 years with Genetics Institute and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, most recently as assistant vice president for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. In that position, he led a research group that identified new disease targets and implemented drug discovery programs and advance molecules to development candidate status. During his tenure, Schaub held numerous other research positions focused on research programs in inflammation, immunology, oncology, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal diseases.
Schaub received a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Nevada and a Ph.D. from Washington State University.
Bouchard, who joined Archemix in November 2004 as senior VP of preclinical drug discovery and development, will now be broadly responsible for overseeing all of Archemix's drug discovery and preclinical development. Prior to joining Archemix, Bouchard was VP of Drug Safety Evaluation at Millennium Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Millennium, Bouchard was assistant VP of pathology at Wyeth-Ayerst, heading the several pathology-related efforts. Bouchard received a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University and a D.V.M. from Tufts University Veterinary School.
Archemix is a privately held biopharmaceutical company whose primary mission is to develop aptamers as a class of directed therapeutics for the prevention and treatment of human disease.
Archemix holds more than 220 issued and 230 pending patents covering the identification, composition and use of therapeutic aptamers.
