Ensign-Bickford inks $5.6M Navy detonator deal

Connecticut-based Ensign-Bickford Industries Inc. won a $5.6 million contract with the U.S. Navy.

Ensign-Bickford of Simsbury is scheduled to deliver from 6,500 to 200,000 non-electric detonators to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, based in Crane, Ind. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2011.

The company has three subdivisions, including Ensign-Bickford Aerospace and Defense Co., which is scheduled to complete the Navy contract. The other subdivisions include AFB International Inc., a pet food technology company based in O'Fallon, Mo., and Ensign-Bickford Realty Corp., a real estate development company also based in Simsbury.

The company did not respond to requests for additional information.
