ITA Software tags $100M financing
ITA Software Inc., the Cambridge-based maker of airline ticket distribution technology, has landed $100 million in equity financing led by Battery Ventures.
ITA, founded in 1999 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology computer scientists, plans to use the funding to help ITA Software expand its business with companies such as Alaska Airlines, Alitalia, Continental Airlines, US Airways, Galileo, Kayak and Orbitz, company officials said.
ITA Software's technology is used by millions of travelers a day, according to officials. Its shopping system is designed to search billions of combinations of flights and airfares in order to deliver better and more comprehensive results for a wide range of travel searches.
The round of financing includes participation from General Catalyst Partners, PAR Investment Partners, Sequoia Capital and Spectrum Equity.
ITA president and chief executive Jeremy Wertheimer said the company is poised to develop the next generation software for the airline industry.
