Greylock locks up 12th fund at $500M
In conjunction with the Waltham venture capital firm's 40th anniversary, Greylock Partners has closed its twelfth fund, Greylock XII Limited Partnership, for $500 million. All existing Greylock limited partners, including university endowments, major American industrial families and not-for-profit foundations, are returning investors in the over-subscribed fund.
The new fund will continue Greylock's focus on working across all areas of information technology, including consumer/Internet, EDA/semiconductor, software, systems and services.
Since its founding in 1965, Greylock has invested in companies such as Ascend Communications Inc., Continental Cable Inc., DoubleClick Inc., Internet Security Systems Inc., Legato Systems Inc., Openwave Systems Inc. and Red Hat Inc.
The firm has offices in Waltham and San Mateo, Calif.
