Mass High Tech honors baker's dozen in 2002 All-Stars awards

Mass High Tech, in conjunction with sponsors Goulston & Storrs, Grant Thornton and Invest UK, last night honored 13 individuals from the New England technology community for its seventh annual All-Star awards.

More than 500 people attended the event, which was held at Boston's Museum of Science.

The Mass High Tech All-Star program profiles New Englanders who have made significant impacts in their chosen technical fields.

"The program spotlights the region's most innovative technologists whose achievements are most likely to affect how we work, live or play today and in the future," said Mark Pillsbury, publisher of Mass High Tech. "These individuals help make New England a center of innovation."

This year's Mass High Tech All-Stars are:

• In the category of Interactive Media, Christopher Dyl, principal architect and chief technology officer for Westwood-based Turbine Entertainment Software Corp.

• In the category of Biotechnology, Richard Kivel, chief executive of MolecularWare Inc. of Cambridge

• In the category of Software, Jeff Setrin, chief technology officer at Imaging Automation Inc. of Bedford, N.H.

• In the category of Education, Louis Soares, formerly project manager for education and training for the Rhode Island Technology Council

• In the category of Medical Devices, Ron Sparks, president of Smith & Nephew Endoscopy, co-located in Andover and Mansfield

• In the category of Telecommunications, John St. Amand, chief executive for Marlborough's Telica

• In the category of Electronics, Robert Therrien, president and chief executive of Chelmsford-based Brooks-PRI Automation

• In the category of Hardware, Michael Thompson, chief operating officer of Egenera Inc. of Marlborough

• In the category of the Internet, Jeremy Wertheimer, president and chief executive of ITA Software Inc. of Cambridge

• In the Legal category, John Chory, senior partner and chairman of the Venture Group at Boston's Hale and Dorr LLP

• In the category of Community Service, David Ellis, director and president of Boston's Museum of Science

• In the category of Real Estate, Roy Hirshland, president of T3 Realty Advisors LLC in Waltham

• In the category of Finance, Terry McGuire, managing general partner of Polaris Venture Partners in Waltham.
