Employers Required to Post Notice Concerning Employee Rights to Unionize

On August 30, 2011, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) published a new rule requiring that employers post a notice to employees informing them of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), including rights to act together to improve wages and working conditions, to form and join a union, and to bargain collectively. The rule takes effect on November 14, 2011.

Mascoma files for $100M IPO

Renewable fuels company Mascoma Corp. of Lebanon, N.H., has announced plans for an initial public offering valued at up to $100 million. The company has developed a chemical platform to convert biomass into fuel.

Noncompete agreements in Mass. poised for compromise

The all-or-nothing arguments of noncompete agreements in Massachusetts may be moving into gray areas. Calls for compromise included a veiled threat from the Patrick Administration that if a middle ground isn't found that the state could consider "outright elimination of enforceability."
