Proposed Employment Law Would Create New Protected Class: The Unemployed
Bills recently introduced in both the U.S. House and Senate would make it illegal for employers and employment agencies to screen out unemployed job seekers. Like other employment laws, the proposed legislation is well-intentioned. However, it would significantly affect how businesses evaluate job candidates and would create a new source of legal claims. For a full explanation of the proposed law, see MBBP's Good Company blog.

For more information on this legislation, please contact Bob Shea.

Innovators’ Roundtable: Infectious Disease
October 18th, 2011
AstraZeneca, 35 Gatehouse Lane, Waltham

While the 20th Century will be credited for eradication or management of many of the world’s most devastating transmissible diseases - like Measles, Polio, Ricketts, and AIDS - the 21st Century may well be known for its neglect for failing to control infectious disease. Globalization, on all fronts, is creating the environment for re-emergence of transmissible disease, yet the industry is poorly poised to handle the management of this resurgence.

Join us for an Innovators’ Roundtable, which will convene various stakeholders in health care delivery to see how downstream changes can improve upstream finance and development challenges in infectious disease. Regulators (what gets approved), reimbursement (what will get paid for), and hospitals (what will get administered) all play a critical role in the delivery of healthcare. This forum will look at how each sector views innovative new drugs vis-à-vis standard of care especially in the face of re-emergent disease and managing healthcare costs.
