Monday, August 10th, 2009

Researchers at UMass Amherst and WPI, along with Acton-based materials company Novotech, are developing technology that could take heat captured by asphalt and use it to generate hot water or steam, which could in turn be used to generate power.

WPI's new faculty

Snyder's digital art

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has picked up some new faculty members for its interactive media and game development program – digital artist Britton Snyder, game designer/multimedia producer Brian Moriarty and forward/center Rasheed Wallace, though I may have misread something about that last one.

Moriarty comes to WPI from Foundation 9/ImaginEngine, where he was creative director. Moriarty, who worked previously for LucasFilm Games, where he worked on the game Loom.

Snyder, who has worked at Snyder has worked at Blizzard Entertainment, Sony, RockStar Boston and other studios, had been working at Seven45 Studios as a concept artist. Snyder specializes in high-resolution, 3D models and textures.
