In today’s Finance Roundup, Raytheon plans a fence in space, DirectoryM invests in its own self, and MTM takes itself private.
• Air Force ‘Space Fence’ nets $30M for Raytheon
The “fence” will use sensors and S-band radars to track small objects in low earth orbit for situational awareness in space. The first radar system is expected to be delivered in 2015.
• DirectoryM invests $2M in its online database
DirectoryM Inc.’s 12 founding employees have ponied up another $2 million to expand the online database centralization startup globally — after buying it out from its investors in March 2007 for $6 million.
• GreenRay lands $2M for affordable solar power
GreenRay develops solar AC modules with fewer parts and simplified installation as a means of lowering cost. The funding will be applied to the manufacturing, distribution and commercial launch of GreenRay’s solar AC module.

VentureWire reports that Roger Krakoff has left Sigma Partners, and EMC blinks, in today’s Finance Roundup.
• Report: Krakoff leaves Sigma to start new Boston VC firm
East Coast-based venture partner Roger Krakoff is leaving Sigma Partners to pursue his own IT-focused fund, according to a report (subscription may be required) posted last night on Dow Jones VentureWire.
• EMC boosts Data Domain offer to $2.1B
The new offer price comes after weeks of EMC (NYSE: EMC) stating to the board of directors and shareholders of California-based Data Domain that its all-cash offer was better than the $1.9 billion stock-and-cash proposal from NetApp Inc., which is also aiming to buy Data Domain.
• Raytheon’s radiological detection pulls in $1.2M
Under the deal, the second phase of a five-phase, $2.9 millon contract, Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) will develop technology for a stand-off warning against radiological materials (SWARM).
• Pro-Pharmaceuticals grabs $500K in tranche
Newton-based Pro-Pharmaceuticals Inc. has landed $500,000 of a $6 million round financed by 10X Fund LP.

In today’s Finance Roundup, Google Ventures makes its third investment in a MIT$100K startup, Rhode Island issues tech bonds, and Raytheon gets more Patriot missile money.
• Stealthy VigLink lands Google Ventures funds
A company filing, posted yesterday by the SEC, lists Google Ventures managing partner Rich Miner as a director of the company.
• R.I. bond sale aids state education, energy tech
The state sold about $12.4 million in 2009 Series A bonds to fund IT upgrades to outdated systems. Rhode Island also sold about $11.8 million in Series B bonds to fund energy conservation projects at the University of Rhode Island, including replacing energy equipment such as boilers, heating systems, air conditioning systems and lighting systems.
• Five-year Raytheon defense deal nets nearly $6M
Under the deal, Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) IDS will perform engineering services on the Waltham-based defense giant’s Patriot missile systems.

Somebody forgot to tell Raytheon about the recession. The Waltham-based defense contractor brought in about $46 million in two deals in today’s Finance Roundup.
• Raytheon radar upgrades pull in $36M
Under the deal, a Foreign Military Sales contract for the State of Kuwait, Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) will upgrade the country’s Patriot missile radar systems to Configuration-3, providing depot test equipment, training and technical services.
• Naval radar deal nets $10M for Raytheon
Raytheon IDS will perform concept studies for the Air and Missile Defense Radar S-Band (AMDR-S) and Radar Suite Controller (RSC).
• Techstars startup gets seed funds
Oneforty Inc. has secured about $250,000 in funding from a list of seven angel investors, founder Laura Fitton confirmed today. Oneforty is developing an application designed to integrate with Twitter Inc.’s online microblogging service, she said.

Almost $60 million dollars changes hands in today’s roundup of finance news from MHT:
• Conn. to receive $15.4M in alternative energy stimulus
The funding from the U.S. Department of Energy is about half of the state’s $38 million in stimulus funds for its State Energy Plan submitted to the federal government last month.
About $8 million will go to expanding fuel cell initiatives through the state Clean Energy fund, with the goal of completing 14 more projects. A rebate program for residential and commercial geothermal systems will receive $5 million. Two plans to support solar thermal and photovoltaic installations will receive $7 million.
• Dyax raises $15M in stock offering
Biotherapeutics company Dyax Corp. says it is raising $15 million through a follow-on offering of 7.4 million shares of its common stock at a price of $2.02 per share.
Dyax reports it intends to use the money raised in the offering to fund the development and commercialization of DX-88, the company’s treatment for the rare and often fatal condition hereditary angioedema. In addition, Dyax will use the cash to fund ongoing research and preclinical activities, as well as for general corporate purposes.
