Lots of money flowing to startups in today’s Finance Flash — Tributes.com, ConforMIS and Ourstage all land funding.
• Online obit firm Tributes.com closes $1.2M financing round
Tributes Inc., a Boston-based online obituary news and tributes service, has closed a $1.2 million second round of funding, bringing the company’s total financing to $5.4 million. The company did not disclose its investors, but the Tributes.com website says that Eons Inc. and Dow Jones & Company backed the firm.
• Cardio drug developer Cortria raises $1.8M
Cortria’s first drug candidate, TRIA-662, is currently in Phase 2 clinical development and targets atherogenic cardiovascular disease. Company officials say that the potential drug will have fewer side effects than those currently on the market.
• ConnectEDU’s $8.2M Series C surpasses plans
ConnectEDU Inc., a Boston-based online college and career planning network, has won $8.2 million in a Series C funding that surpassed company expectations. The company had been projecting $5 million for its financing round.• Knee implant firm ConforMIS lands $50M investment
The company, which develops a customized bicompartmental knee resurfacing implant, intends to apply the financing to improve and grow its orthopedic implant technologies.• Music network startup OurStage tunes in $3M fundingThe Chelmsford-based startup, launched in 2006, has raised $3 million of a $6 million new round of financing, bringing its total financing up to $20 million, company officials report.
