DiMasi scandal touches Bobby Cough Drops?

The Herald’s Jay Fitzgerald reports the Mass Biotech council is standing by its man, Robert President Robert Coughlin, whose name has surfaced in the alleged  kickback scandal, involving former house speaker Sal DiMasi and Cognos Inc.

Last year, Coughlin paid a $10,000 fine after an ethics probe found he had lobbied for the MBC job while serving as Gov. Deval Patrick’s undersecretary of business development.

Coughlin’s predecessor at the MBC was Tom Finneran — the middle of the house speaker indictment sandwice — who resigned in 2007 after pleading guilty to obstructing justice.
